How to Measure for Your Chest of Drawers

Getting the fit right before you buy saves a lot of headaches. Here's what to check:

1. Width Measure the wall space where the piece will sit. Allow at least 10–15cm on either side for breathing room and visual balance. Our range spans from 120cm (Ascot & Regency Four Drawer) up to 183cm (Sophia Extra Long), so there's an option for every wall.

2. Depth Most of our chests sit around 47–53cm deep. Make sure to account for clearance in front — you'll need enough room to fully open drawers, typically an additional 50cm of clear floor space.

3. Height Consider what will sit on top and if there are any constraints such as windows. Our chests range from 84cm to 108cm high. As a guide, a chest that sits at or just below hip height tends to feel most proportional in a bedroom.

4. Doorways & Hallways Before delivery day, measure your doorframes, hallways, and any tight corners the piece will need to navigate. Note the diagonal measurement too — this is often the critical number when moving furniture through doorways.

5. Visual Proportion A good rule of thumb: your chest of drawers should occupy roughly two-thirds of the wall it sits on. Too narrow and it can look lost; too wide and it can feel cramped.
