Shop our beautiful range of hamptons buffets in smaller sizes. Buffets (also known as sideboards) are one of the most versatile pieces that can be used in just about any area of the home.

The purpose of a buffet is primarily to create storage space. They also create additional surfaces to serve dinner on, place a television, style with decor or even burn a candle. Choosing a Hamptons buffet comes down to making sure you have the right scale for the space, what the primary function is as well as your colour and design preference.

Our small buffets are also often used as oversized bedside tables or even entertainment units.

FAQs

What is a buffet (sideboard) used for?

A buffet provides extra storage and surface space. It often sits in a dining room or hallway, storing dishes or household items inside. The top can be used for serving food, displaying a TV, or styling decor (like candles or books), making buffets both practical and attractive.

How do I choose the right small buffet style from Style My Home?

Choosing the right style comes down to your personal preference, your space, and the look you want to achieve. Our Plantation range is slightly taller and includes drawers, featuring classic louvre detailing for a relaxed Hamptons feel, and is available in satin white and whitewash oak. The Ascot offers timeless detailing, is available in both satin white and whitewash oak, and can also double as a large bedside table. The Hamilton has a more modern, structured design for a refined look and is available in satin white. All styles are designed to complement classic and Hamptons interiors, so it’s simply a matter of selecting the finish and detail that best suits your space.

What’s the difference between your buffet ranges?

At Style My Home, we offer three core buffet styles: All of our buffets also have handy drawers (except our Ascoit small buffet).

  • Ascot: Features geometric cross detailing—perfect for modern Hamptons homes
  • Plantation: Coastal feel with louvre doors, often used as entertainment units
  • Oxford & Long Island: Traditional Hamptons look with classic shaker paneling

Each is available in different sizes and finishes to suit a range of interiors.

Do Style My Home buffets suit homes that aren’t Hamptons style?

Absolutely! While our buffets are inspired by Hamptons-style design, their clean lines, timeless finishes, and versatile silhouettes make them a beautiful fit for a wide range of interiors. Whether your home leans modern coastal, country, contemporary, or even farmhouse, our buffets blend effortlessly thanks to their neutral colour palettes (like satin white and whitewash oak), thoughtful proportions, and classic detailing. Many of our customers use our buffets in spaces that aren’t traditionally Hamptons—proving that great design never goes out of style.

How can I style a Hamptons buffet in my home?

Style a buffet by balancing height and color. Add framed art or a mirror above it, and arrange objects (vases, lamps, or a candle arrangement) in groups on top. As Style My Home advises, consider the right scale and your color scheme, a white or natural buffet looks great with coastal accents. This turns your buffet into a beautiful focal point that still offers useful storage.

Which finish is best for a buffet?

Our Hamptons buffets are available in our signature finishes satin white and whitewash oak, finishes.

  • White is crisp, timeless, and works beautifully with coastal or modern interiors.
  • Oak finishes add warmth and texture and pair well with timber floors or rustic styling.

All finishes are chosen to suit classic, coastal, and traditional homes.

Can I use a buffet as a TV unit or entertainment unit?

Yes! Many of our customers use Hamptons buffets as entertainment units, especially styles with louvre doors like our Plantation range. These allow remote controls to work through the doors while concealing devices and cords. Just check the depth and internal shelf space to ensure it suits your media equipment. With advanced technology all of our buffet styles now should be adequate to be used as entertainment units.

Do I need drawers in my buffet?

It depends on how you plan to use it. Most of our customers prefer a buffet with both drawer and cupboard space.

  • Drawers are great for organising smaller items like napkins, keys/ sunglasses, placemats, or office supplies.
  • Drawer-free buffets like the Ascot small buffet often offer more cupboard space or a sleeker silhouette.
What size buffet is best for my space?

The right size depends on the available wall space, depth clearance, and visual balance in your room.

  • For small rooms, a small buffet (90–120 cm) works beautifully.
  • For dining or living rooms, a medium or large buffet (160–200 cm) offers more storage and styling space.

Always measure your wall, and consider door clearance and height—especially under windows or artwork.

Where can a small buffet be used and what should I consider?

Small buffets are incredibly versatile and can be used in dining rooms, living areas, entryways, as a bar, or even as a large bedside in a bedroom. They provide practical concealed storage for items such as tableware, glassware, linens, or everyday essentials, while also offering a surface for styling décor. Their compact size makes them ideal for smaller spaces where a full-size buffet may not suit. For safety, particularly in homes with children, we recommend securing the unit to the wall in line with Australian toppling safety guidelines.
