Located on rolling acreage in rural NSW, the brief centred around creating a refined modern farmhouse aesthetic that felt deeply connected to its natural surroundings. The clients wanted to bring the outside in through warm textures, layered materials, and a calming, earthy palette that reflected the landscape beyond.
Designed as both a family holiday home and Airbnb retreat, the home needed to feel welcoming, cosy, and highly functional, while still maintaining a sense of sophistication and thoughtful design. Every space was carefully considered to balance relaxed country living with timeless elegance β creating interiors that felt comfortable, elevated, and effortlessly inviting for both everyday family use and guest stays.
Positioned within the heart of the home, the main living area was designed to embrace the surrounding rural views through expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows and an open-plan layout centred around a striking natural stone fireplace.
Soft oatmeal linen sofas, oversized ottomans, and a large textured rug create a warm and inviting foundation, while white coffee and side tables bring cohesion with the adjoining kitchen. Layers of blue and grey were introduced through oversized artwork and a feature blue and white striped armchair, adding depth, contrast, and a relaxed sophistication to the space.
Positioned on the opposite side of the open fireplace and adjoining the kitchen, the dining space continues the homeβs cohesive open-plan design and calming colour palette. Expansive windows fill the room with natural light, enhancing the airy and relaxed atmosphere throughout the home.
The space features a large oak dining table paired with a mix of white and duck egg blue dining chairs, creating a relaxed yet refined feel. A blue and white rug anchors the room and introduces softness and texture, while the consistent layering of tones and materials throughout the kitchen, living, and dining areas ensures the home feels beautifully connected.
Located further down the hallway, the second living area was designed as a relaxed retreat and multipurpose games room for family and guests to enjoy. Slipcover sofas in soft duck egg blue bring a casual, comfortable feel to the space, complemented by a neutral textured rug and a white entertainment unit for a light and timeless look.
A large striped ottoman was used in place of a traditional coffee table, creating a practical and inviting space perfect for board games and relaxed entertaining. On the opposite side of the room, a pool table completes the space, adding a fun and social element while maintaining the homeβs cohesive colour palette and relaxed modern farmhouse aesthetic.
Designed as a calming sanctuary, the primary bedroom embraces a soft and timeless palette layered with warmth and texture. An upholstered oatmeal bedhead paired with a matching ottoman at the end of the bed creates an elegant focal point, while white bedside tables and glass table lamps with crisp white shades bring a light and refined feel to the space.
Fresh white bedding keeps the room feeling airy and inviting, complemented by blue and white accent cushions that tie beautifully into the artwork selected beside the bed. Underfoot, a blue and white rug adds softness, pattern, and cohesion, completing the relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere of the room.
