FAQs

What are Hamptons style mirrors?

A Hamptons-style mirror is defined by its classic lines, simple detailing, and timeless finishes that never go out of style. Much like the broader Hamptons aesthetic, these mirrors favour understated elegance over trend-driven design, making them a versatile addition to any home not just a Hamptons home. You’ll often find them in crisp white, black, or nickel finishes. These mirrors are designed to enhance light and space while blending seamlessly into your home—whether styled above a console or buffet, in a hallway or in a bedroom. True to Hamptons form, they feel fresh, refined, and enduring, making them a smart investment for any home that values timeless beauty over short-lived trends.

What shaped mirror should I choose?

Of course this comes dpwn to personal preference. The shape of your mirror should complement both the function of the room and the style of your home—and in Hamptons interiors, it’s all about creating balance, elegance, and softness. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right shape:

  • Catherdral/ Arch Mirrors: Perfect for softening sharp angles and adding height. The gentle curve of an arch mirror brings a sense of relaxed sophistication, especially above a console or bedhead. Our Cathedral full height mirror is perfect for your walk in wardrobe.
  • Rectangular Mirrors: A timeless, go-to shape that works well in nearly every room. Ideal for a longer console in entryways or living rooms rectangular mirrors offer clean lines and structure—very true to the Hamptons aesthetic.
  • Round Mirrors: Excellent for creating a focal point and breaking up square or boxy layouts. A round mirror brings balance and movement to a space, especially in smaller areas likeabove a console in an entry or living space, in  powder rooms or above a dresser. Round mirrors tend to be the most popular choice.
  • Quatrefoil Mirrors: This is a statement choice, perfect for adding a touch of classic detail. This shape works beautifully in formal entryways or as a statement piece in a hallway or in a dining  or living room, blending timeless charm with subtle drama.

When in doubt, choose a mirror shape that complements the furniture below it and enhances the flow of your room. In Hamptons design, the goal is always elegance with ease.

Where should I place my mirror?

Ideal locations include entryways, above console tables, over mantels, or in bathrooms and bedrooms. Mirrors can visually expand a room and enhance natural light—both key principles of Hamptons design.

Where are rectangular mirrors best suited in the home?

Rectangular mirrors are ideal where you want a more structured, tailored look. They work particularly well in bedrooms above dressers, in bathrooms above vanities, or in hallways where vertical or horizontal orientation can enhance the sense of height or width. Their clean lines complement shaker cabinetry and more traditional layouts, making them a natural fit for classic and Hamptons interiors.

Many clients have trouble choosing between the Newport and Windsor mirrors. Tell me more about them.

Both Newport and Windsor mirror designs are rooted in traditional European architecture. The Newport style, with its 16-pane windowpane design, is inspired by Georgian and early American colonial homes, where divided windows were a defining feature—making it feel architectural and perfectly suited to Hamptons interiors. In contrast, the Windsor style draws from classic English interiors, focusing on clean lines, proportion, and understated elegance, offering a more refined and timeless look.
